"Essence"
(Metal, Part 2)
By Michael Knapp

my new schematic
it's more than life-size
this machine is just something to pass the time
like you

I am the one they used to laugh at me
now they're on their knees
and begging me for more
like you

I have the essence
I have the style
M.E.
another boring ritual
like you

pull the plug
let me sleep
oh life is so demanding

you are the routine
like it's never going to end
no one knows the reasons why
do you?
subject change:
is there anyone alive?
are we all just pictures on the wall?
like you

and why is that?
and where am I? (cry)
I don't like that answer either
do you?

here's the end
and now we leave
who knows the truth of where we go?
