Poetry And Power

"This Dream"
By Michael Knapp
in the darkness of my isolation
where angels fear to tread
among the dearly departed here
where god has judged the dead

his jesus claims the righteous ones
they eat his flesh and blood
and drink the 'wine of slaughter' while
being dragged through the mud

(I tried to sleep)
this dream seems so real
(I tried to scream)
this dream seems so real
(I felt the knife go deep)
this dream seems so real
(for my soul to keep)
this dream seems so real

in ancient sorrows of old stories
misled and wrapped in lies
lucifer stood in hellish realms
looking up to darkened skies

I saw a land between the two
where good and evil were one
where lucifer had the face of god
in the night of the midnight sun

(I tried to sleep)
this dream seems so real
(I tried to scream)
this dream seems so real
(I felt the knife go deep)
this dream seems so real
(for my soul to keep)
this dream seems so real
