Poetry And Power

"Tubeway Machine"
By Michael Knapp
the motor's running
the blood is pumping
I hear it revving
speeding faster
down the street

u.d.'s are chasing
hyenas laughing
'my walls to blame'
I left the station
and my ego

tubeway machine
executive routine
pictures moving
(on the)
active matrix screen

tubeway machine
to live old dreams
'new dreams for old'
(I try?)
I go to extremes

the 'friends' that left me
computer banshee
no one knows
or really cares
'do you begin to see?'

my eyes are fading
I need upgrading
these new machines
'they don't make them
like they used to'

tubeway machine
executive routine
pictures moving
(on the)
active matrix screen

tubeway machine
to live old dreams
'new dreams for old'
(I try?)
I go to extremes
